~ Peek-a-Boo! ~

Paris Set Me Free - Paris Photo Quiz 12 - 'Peek-a-Boo!'

TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD'S MOST FASCINATING CITY!

Quiz No. 12: 'Peek-a-Boo!'

Question: "Where are we, and what might you see through those holes?

==> COMMENT & WIN! <==
Careful ladies, you might be giving a little too much away if you answer that last question with confidence!

I love this thing, for everything it stands, or stood for, if not for certain characteristics today.
It's one of a kind in Paris, it's gloriously awful, it's wonderfully redolent.. of times gone by, and I hope and pray it's never taken down.
The red bits are a recent artistic addition, by the way, and not part of the original design. As I'm typing this, I'm wondering what those holes are actually for. Any ideas, anyone? The more I can learn about this, the happier I'll be :-D
DON'T FORGET: The first Winners as defined above will all receive a couple of wonderful, signed Paris Set Me Free bookmarks by post. Those of you who do get a bookmark may be asked to send a cool photo to prove they actually exist (the bookmarks, not the people) and I'll link back to your own site if you've got one for your trouble. Look - it happened to Paris Paul, and to Priscilla from Prissy Mag, and it could happen to you too!

Quiz No. 11: 'Grim Up North' ~ Answer & Winner!

WE HAVEN'T QUITE GOT ONE YET!
I'm looking for a full or at least a half answer (or a good guess) to the question from someone who hasn't won recently, so you've got everything to play for!
g for the very famous place this was taken from I'm not going to close it just yet, so keep trying!
Just to remind you, I'm looking for the place we can find this wonderful statue, and, for the experts, what's on the woman's knees. (And for the mega-experts, what's the statue supposed to represent.) If you think you have an idea about either of those, post your comment here!

Paris Set Me Free - Paris Photo Quiz 11 - 'Grim Up North'

TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD'S MOST FASCINATING CITY!

Quiz No. 11: 'Grim Up North'

Question: "Where are we, and what's on the woman's knees?

==> COMMENT & WIN! <==
He he! You may or may not know about this, depending on what sort of person you are and what sort of lifestyle you lead!
I can't say much more than that really, without totally giving everything away, so I wont!

What I will say though, is that I'm really looking for some interesting comments in the guesses, not just one word responses.
To he honest, I don't really care about the answer or who gets it. What I love is the little personal stories and anecdotes from people who have some emotional attachment to what's shown in the picture.
So I'll be offering some of my sweet little Paris Set Me Free bookmarks to the first two or three people who have a go, get reasonably close, AND tell us how they know or why they care - can't say any fairer than that, can I?!

Quiz No. 10: 'Mystery In The Gallery' ~ Answer & Winner!

WE HAVEN'T QUITE GOT ONE YET!
Alexa in the comments did get the inside of this place right, but since then I've had no news back from her, and as I am also looking for the very famous place this was taken from I'm not going to close it just yet, so keep trying!
Just to remind you, I'm looking for the full name of what you can see in the pic AND the famous place the picture was taken from. And not a fact less!!!

Are you reading me..?

TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD'S MOST FASCINATING CITY!

Quiz No. XXX: 'Prissy Pretty Engrossed'

Question: "Which Paris author is the latest winner
of some fabulous Paris Photo Quiz bookmarks?

Yes, that's right! It's the delightful Priscilla from Prissy Mag! Priscilla is here holding a copy of her book Stockdale:
"In the small southern town of Stockdale, Alabama, ...blacks live on one side of the tracks and whites on the other, Cassie Taylor wants nothing more than to get out.
Taught early that she's not free to love whomever she pleases in Stockdale due to the color of her skin, Cassie embarks on a journey that takes her into and out of the arms of bad-boy Blake, and then across the world to South Korea, to the good guy she's certain will save her.
In this tale of self-discovery, adventure, forbidden love and courage, find out what happens in a place where being black or white can mean absolutely nothing or everything."
Click on her picture here to visit Prissy Mag and learn more about her wonderful site and her book too, which is coming out in a new edition shortly, I believe! Thanks for playing, Prissy!
So what are you waiting for? You too could be like Priscilla from Prissy Mag - the proud owner of a couple of delectable little slices of Paris in the fine form of an exclusive, official, signed Paris Set Me Free Bookmark just for leaving a comment on any of the posts you find here. Paris Photo Quiz No.10 ~ 'Mystery in the Gallery'

~ Mystery in the Gallery ~

Paris Set Me Free - Paris Photo Quiz 10 - 'Mystery in the Gallery'

TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD'S MOST FASCINATING CITY!

Quiz No. 10: 'Mystery in the Gallery'

Question: "Where are we, and what are we looking at?

==> COMMENT HERE! <==
Are you surprised to find a great British institution (******** and Company?) nestling in the heart of one of Paris' most prestigious hidden passages?

Or maybe it's just sneaky old Sab trying to pull the cashmere over your eyes yet again...

OK, I'll be good to you and give you a clue: it's NOT the most famous English language bookshop in Paris. Does that make it any easier?

So what do you think is the complete version of the suspiciously English-looking snippet we can see in the photo above?
And DON'T FORGET: The first few Paris fans to leave comments will all receive a couple of wonderful, signed Paris Set Me Free bookmarks by post. Those of you who do get a bookmark may be asked to send a cool photo to prove they actually exist (the bookmarks, not the people) and I'll link back to your own site if you've got one for your trouble. Look - it happened to Paris Paul, and it could happen to you too!

Quiz No. 9: 'Bright Ideas at Bedtime' ~ Answer & Winner!

Priscilla from Prissy Mag!
Well done Prissy! You correctly guessed it as follows:
"Ah yes, inventor Charles Pigeon who invented the non-exploding gas lamp. This was taken in the Montparnasse cemetery then. His tomb is as well-known as he is, almost. GREAT PHOTO! Thanks!"
Well gee, thanks! And you're absolutely right, especially about the tomb being more famous than him. If you're ever in the area, anyone, you should go and have a look at it - pretty impressive I can tell you.
What you can't see here is the angel standing at the head of the bed which is also spectacular. He knew how to go out in a blaze of glory, did old Mr. Pigeon!
