Paris Set Me Free - Paris Photo Quiz 9 - 'Bright Ideas at Bedtime'

Quiz No. 9: 'Bright Ideas at Bedtime'

Question: "Who is he, and what is he most famous for?

One of the most impressive of all Parisian monuments, this chap certainly had character, if his final resting place is anything to go by. But who is he?
I can tell you that he worked as a salesman at Le Bon Marché for a while, and was good friends with the founder of another of the great Parisian department stores, La Samaritaine.
But that's not why he became well known and wealthy. No. So, can anyone come up with any bright ideas this time? It seems that my Paris quizzes are proving to be rather tougher than I meant them to be. But I'm not going to go soft on you just to make it easy. No, it's up to you to have a go or even just say you haven't got a clue but that you're there and like the picture anyway! Saying hi and sharing a passion for Paris is the thing!
And DON'T FORGET: The first two or three people to leave comments will all receive a couple of wonderful, signed Paris Set Me Free bookmarks by post. Those of you who do get a bookmark may be asked to send a cool photo to prove it and I'll link you back to your own site if you've got one. Look - it happened to Paris Paul, and it could happen to you too!

Quiz No. 8: 'Careful: History Crossing' ~ Answer & Winner!

I'm still waiting for the first comment and right answer. Go on - you could be the one, and your name could be broadcast in flashing pixels on this very blog! So go ahead and have a guess - I promise I won't laugh - unless it's really funny! I'm not telling you what it is until at least a couple of you have had a go, so there.

Sorry, don't know 'Anonymouses'!

Anonymi? Hippopotamuses? Hippopotami? Ignoramuses? Ignorami?

I never know. Your guess is as good as mine...

Give me a little time. I'm going to crack this...I hope...this intrigues me.

Ah yes, inventor Charles Pigeon who invented the non-exploding gas lamp. This was taken in the Montparnasse cemetery then. His tomb is as well-known as he is, almost. GREAT PHOTO! Thanks!
